The printer is a thermal printer, which means the image is produced when the thermal paper passes over the special print head and as it does so a selected area is heated, turning the paper black and producing the image.

Long battery life
The Bixolon is robust, too, and damage resistant to drops of 1.2m. Further, it is dust and water resistant (with a protective case).
